This was a mural development project in which I worked closely with NYCHA staff, The Mayor’s Action Plan & residents of the houses to develop a mural that promotes gender equality, inclusion, and safety. The final design also serves as an interactive piece, where the public can stand in the figure stating, ‘You Belong’, reinforcing the idea that no matter your color, gender, or age we all belong and deserve to feel safe, seen, and respected. Commissioned and supported by GenEquality, NYCHA, The Mayor’s Action Plan.

This was a collaborative mural project in which I was assigned a design created by other artist in response to the Black Lives Matter movement. I executed the Artist’s design on the letter ‘M’ and worked with the public and volunteers in painting. I worked closely with the Artist to ensure the most accurate rendering of her original design. Both lovers of music, we were commissioned by the owner of the lot to create this piece honoring Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon, painted by Rizz22. The Hamsa inside the lotus flower is a tribute to the spiritualist reader whose business is adjacent to the lot.

My section of the mural is a large, bright floral landscape featuring a hummingbird and several insects. My design, alongside the other two artists on this triptych mural, was result of several community engagement sessions where community members and youth that use the park had design input. My design is meant to celebrate flora in the community and promote positivity, a sense of nature at play. White Park, East Harlem, NYC, Commissioned by Public Art Initiative, Marcus Garvey Park Alliance, NYC Parks, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

This two part interior mural was the result of a 3 month long teaching artist residency I had with Project Art, that brought free Afterschool arts classes to NYPL branches. My residency took place in the Allerton, Bronx branch, where the students and I centered our mural building through celebrating our community. I incorporated the children’s work into the design as a collaboration.
